Bad Idea Alarm

Proud on the bag.
Not buried in the purse.

Open-clip carry beats a keyring lost under receipts. Lipstick-scale form. Soft-touch finish. A deliberate lock. Colourways that read as beauty, not tactical neon.

Lipstick-scale

Soft-touch polymer that sits next to gloss and keys — not a grey panic gadget from a sporting aisle.

Open clip carry

Clip on a designer bag or belt loop. Visible, reachable, proud — the opposite of purse-bottom shame.

Lock against accidents

A deliberate lock so it stays quiet in your bag — and ready when you mean it.

Signature colourways

Signature Rose, Soft Black, warm chrome. Adult matte finishes — beauty adjacency, not Barbie-toy pink.

Attention, not aggression

A witness magnet: attract help and raise social risk for an aggressor. Not a weapon — a loud, legal deterrent.

UK-first legality

We hired the legal question before the ads. Alarm-led MVP for civilian UK sale, gift and carry.

Bad Idea Alarm colourways — Signature Rose, Soft Black and chrome accents

Colourways you’ll actually show

Signature Rose for beauty-retail adjacency. Soft Black and warm chrome for gift-givers, students and lone-worker packs that shouldn’t feel gendered. Designed to be carried in the hand or clipped — never buried.

Gift & institutions

Gift it like fragrance.
Carry it like you mean it.

For nights out, late trains, first terms — and institutions that want duty-of-care kits people keep on them.

Gift

For “I was thinking of you.”

Thoughtful, legal, actually usable. A gift that says care without panic — and looks at home on a vanity or clipped to a clutch.

B2B · Campus · Nightlife · Lone work

Packs people don’t leave in the drawer

Neutral colourways, volume pricing and a training insert. Co-branded IFU cards: activate, move to safety, call for help. Pilots for universities, venues and lone-worker programmes welcome.

FAQ

Straight answers

No illegal myths. No fear porn. Just what it is — and what it isn’t.

What does it do?

Bad Idea Alarm is a compact personal alarm. When activated it emits a loud siren intended to attract attention and deter by increasing social risk for an aggressor. It is not a weapon and does not discharge any spray.

How loud is it?

We’re designing to a high-decibel personal-alarm class (commodity UK alarms often cite around 130–140 dB). Final published figures will follow acoustic validation — never test near ears, and follow the IFU hearing warning.

Is this pepper spray? Is any spray version available in the UK?

No. Under the Firearms Act 1968, civilian pepper / CS / PAVA-type irritant sprays are prohibited weapons. Bad Idea’s UK MVP is alarm-only. Any export-only defence line would be separate, geo-fenced and counsel-cleared — never implied as UK-available on this site.

Who is it for?

Anyone who wants a legal, beautiful carry object: style-led women, gift-givers, students, nightlife guests, and lone workers. Soft Black and neutral B2B packs exist so pink isn’t the only story.

Shipping & returns?

Details will publish with launch (UK fulfilment first). We’ll confirm returns and hearing-safety policy with counsel before cart open. Waitlist members hear first.

Does it prevent assault or violence?

No honest product can promise that. Bad Idea is a preparedness tool — legal, loud, designed to be carried — not a guarantee of safety. We don’t sell fear, and we don’t claim to fund systemic solutions alone.
